Fluke Sedimentation

This test will determine if liver and/or stomach fluke is present in your mob. Liver fluke can severely impact sheep production, with negative implications on wool quality, lambing percentages and lamb growth rate. If the intermediate host, the aquatic snail, is present on your property it is recommended that a fluke test be conducted.

The fluke test is not quantitive, but is qualitive. Due to the nature of how fluke are released from the gallbladder, it is difficult to do accurate fluke egg counts. So instead, we report our results being positive or negative, based on whether fluke was sighted.

Note: A negative result merely shows that there are no adult fluke laying eggs. There could still be immature fluke present, that aren't yet able to lay eggs.
